How Much Does Invisalign Cost in the UK?

Invisalign is a popular teeth straightening treatment that many people are choosing these days. It is a great option for those who want to achieve a straighter smile without having to wear braces. However, one of the patients’ main questions about Invisalign is how much it costs.

The price of Invisalign can vary depending on a person's individual needs, location, and doctor's experience. In this blog post, we will discuss the average cost of Invisalign treatment in the UK and what you can expect to pay for your own treatment.

How much is the cost of Invisalign?

The average cost of Invisalign in the UK is between £2500 and £5000, most often falling somewhere around the £3500-£4000. How much you will pay will depend on your particular needs and circumstances.

For example, if your misalignment is a mild case and you have no additional dental problems, your treatment will be shorter, and your cost will fall into a lower range of between £2500-£3500.

However, most of the patients we see require a more complex comprehensive treatment with a price between £3500 and £3900.

How much does Invisalign cost for top or bottom teeth only?

It is possible to have Invisalign treatment for top or bottom teeth only. However, dentists and orthodontists will advise treating both arches simultaneously in most cases. This is because when we move teeth on one arch only, your bite may become misaligned, meaning that your top and bottom teeth might not come together properly.

In case of a minor teeth movement, your Invisalign doctor may advise one arch treatment. However, such treatment is usually 20%-25% and not 50% cheaper. So you'll indeed use fewer aligners, but the cost of procedures, time involved, a number of appointments and clinical expertise will be the same. The Invisalign fee for the dentist is also nearly the same.

To determine if you qualify for one arch treatment, it’s best to book a free consultation with an Invisalign doctor.

What does Invisalign price depend on?

Invisalign price depends on factors such as:

  • the severity of your misalignment, which determines the complexity and duration of your treatment and how many aligners you'll need

  • expertise and experience of your Invisalign doctor

  • your doctor’s pricing structure

  • where you are in the country

How can I find out what my Invisalign cost will be?

Because Invisalign is a bespoke treatment, you'll need to consult an Invisalign dentist or orthodontist to get a confirmation of your price. Many Invisalign providers offer free consultations, so it's easy to find out whether you are a candidate for Invisalign and what your cost and treatment time is going to be.

To find an Invisalign provider visit Invisalign's website and enter your town/city or postcode. When considering a dentist or orthodontist, it is worth checking their experience, testimonials and examples of treatment outcomes. You should be able to find these on a provider's website or social media profiles like Facebook or Instagram.

To quickly check if Invisalign could be for you, you can take their quick and free smile assessment.

What is included in Invisalign cost?

When checking prices from different providers, it's important to make sure that you are comparing "apples with apples". This means looking at what has been included in the price.

What’s usually included:

  • Initial consultation

  • Full Orthodontic Assessment (examination of your teeth, gums, and jaw)

  • All photographs, impressions and records

  • Invisalign treatment plan (ClinCheck)

  • All in-practice appointments, aligners fitting and check-ups

  • All Invisalign aligners

  • Invisalign attachments (if needed)

  • Refinements (if needed)

  • Replacement of broken or lost aligners

  • 0% monthly payment plans

Some other perks may include:

  • 3D smile simulation (showing you on the screen how your smile will gradually change during your treatment and how it will look like at the end of it)

  • Fixed and/or removable retainers

  • Teeth whitening

  • Teeth shaping and contouring (Composite Edge Bonding)

  • Discounts

What’s usually not included in Invisalign price?

You need to be dentally fit before you begin any orthodontic treatment. Your Invisalign provider will thoroughly examine your teeth to ensure they are in perfect health. If you need any dental treatments before starting Invisalign for example for tooth decay or gum disease, these costs will usually be quoted and charged separately.

What is the After Cost of Invisalign?

You will need to wear retainers after your treatment, and you'll also have a series of post-treatment control visits. These costs may or may not be included in your Invisalign price and we recommend checking with your provider before going ahead with your treatment. In case there are additional aftercare expenses, you might get them covered under the finance. Remember to ask about it during your free consultation.

Are there any Invisalign discounts and offers available?

Dentists and Orthodontists often host Invisalign Open Days for people looking into getting Invisalign aligners. These days typically include special deals just for attendees. You can ask questions, find out about your braces, and even get them right then if you want!

Can I get Invisalign on the NHS?

Unfortunately, no. NHS doesn't include Invisalign.

What are the Invisalign payment plans?

One of the ways dental practices make it easier for you to afford Invisalign is by offering monthly instalments with interest-free financing. The higher the instalment, the less time it will take for you to pay off your treatment but know that there may be some credit check needed before approval.

Payment options vary at every dental practice. Here are the two examples of different types of payment plans available to our patients.

The below examples illustrate payment plans for the treatment cost of £3500.

Option 1: Flexible Finance (0% for the first two years)

For this option, we use Tabeo. Tabeo provides a simple and affordable way to spread the cost of your treatment with 0% finance for up to 2 years.

For the treatment cost of £3500, the payments will be as follow:

£150 Full Orthodontic Assessment PLUS

£279.16 per month for 12 months, 0% APR, or

£186.11 per month for 18 months,0% APR, or

£139.58 per month for 24 months, 0% APR, or

£106.43 per month for 36 months, 9.9% APR, or

£83.46 per month for 48 months, 9.9% APR, or

£69.76 per month for 60 months, 9.9% APR

Option 2: Payment in instalments

If you prefer not to use financing, you can pay for your treatment in a few instalments:

For example, if the treatment cost is £3500 and the treatment duration 12 months, the payment scheme will be as follow:

£150 Full Orthodontic Assessment PLUS

£950 in advance of ClinCheck Treatment Plan

£300 when the Invisalign aligners are fitted

£175 a month for 12 months (£3500-£150-£950-£700 = £1700 divided into 12 months)

Is it worth paying more for better quality aligners?

You might be able to find cheaper invisible aligners online, but don't risk it. There are a lot of risks associated with DIY orthodontic treatment (aligners that you buy from an online store without visiting a dental practice). DIY online treatments can lead to gum infections and tooth loss, as well as jaw and bite problems that last a lifetime. Your teeth and gums deserve care from a skilled practitioner who will offer expertise and guidance. Remember to do your research before risking your health.

When it comes to Invisalign, the quality of aligners is the same across the board. However, make sure you find an experienced Invisalign dentist to get the best possible treatment and results.

Is Invisalign cheaper than braces?

Prices for orthodontic treatment in the UK vary depending on various factors which include the severity of your dental issue, length of the treatment, skill level of provider and more. Saying that the average cost for Invisalign at our practice is £3900 while Damon Braces start from £4900. We usually use Damon Braces to treat more complex cases requiring longer treatment.

Is Invisalign worth it?

There are many factors to consider when deciding if Invisalign will be worth it for you, such as your budget, your desired results, and your patience level with wearing aligners for 20-22 hours per day.

The treatment can increase the comfort of eating and prevent the risk of damaging your jaw joint. Having straighter teeth can also give you the best chance of keeping your teeth clean and healthy.

Invisalign is also less visible, more comfortable, usually faster and in most cases as effective as braces.

But most importantly by getting your teeth aligned, you can boost your self-esteem and increase happiness levels. A straight set of pearly whites will increase how often you smile throughout the day, which has some surprisingly good effects. There are even some studies suggesting it lowers the stress hormone cortisol!

Here are a few quotes from our Invisalign patients:

“I now have a smile I can be proud of! 😊” - Soraya
